Acute Particulate Characterization of Coated Drug-Eluting Vascular Stent Systems: Particle-Free Loop Capture Method and SEM Analysis

چکیده

Drug-Eluting Stents (DES) have greatly impacted treatment methods for cardiovascular disease over the past ten years. Patients receiving DES treatments have a significantly reduced risk of in-stent restenosis, but other risks, such as particulate matter generation, have caused concern in recent years. Particulate matter can be generated by the manufacturing process or from the breakdown of any coating (e.g., hydrophilic coating) or from the stent platform, stent delivery system, or product packaging. If particles are introduced in the bloodstream during stent delivery or deployment, they may present an embolic risk to the patient.

Drug loaded nanoparticle coating on totally bioresorbable PLLA stents to prevent in-stent restenosis.

Biodegradable polymer poly (dl-lactide) (PDLLA) has been used as drug coating material for drug-eluting stents due to its excellent biocompatibility and sustained drug release ability. However, the uniform thin layer drug eluting coating on a stent not only inhibits the blood vessel's smooth muscle cell overgrowth but also delay the endotheliation process which is often associated with the occu...

Overview of Intracoronary Brachytherapy for in-Stent Restenosis of a Drug-Eluting Stent

Percutaneous coronary intervention with stenting is considered recently as the most common procedure for the treatment of symptomatic coronary. The article reviewed 41 studies published during 1997-2019 on intracoronary brachytherapy for in-stent restenosis of a drug-eluting stent. Intracoronary radiation therapy was finally confirmed in the setting of in-stent restenosis using as adjunctive th...

Inhibition of neointima formation by a novel drug-eluting stent system that allows for dose-adjustable, multiple, and on-site stent coating.

OBJECTIVE The risk of in-stent restenosis can be considerably reduced by stents eluting cytostatic compounds. We created a novel drug-eluting stent system that includes several new features in the rapidly evolving field of stent-based drug delivery. METHODS AND RESULTS The aim of the present study was the preclinical evaluation of a stent-coating system permitting individual, on-site coating ...
